Diversified Adjustingadjustment

Diversified adjusting technique is the technique taught at most chiropractic colleges, and is the most frequently used technique. Diversified procedures attempt to use normal biomechanics of the spine and the extremities to create motion at a vertebra or extremity joint with the goal of restoring function and structure to the joint. It involves a quick shallow thrust that causes a joint cavitation (the popping noise) and is the technique that most patients think of when they think chiropractic. It continues to be one of the most effective treatments for patients of all ages and health histories.

Traction Table

Intersegmental traction is a means of inducing passive motion into your spine for the purpose of increasing mobility and stretching spinal joints. This is a table that you lay on and inside the table are three rollers that rotate and move from head to toe. As the rollers gently roll up and down the spine, this will not only feel incredibly relaxing, but be beneficial to your spine. Research shows that by putting your spine through this type of motion, you not only increase the range of motion of your spine but you pump the discs that are between the vertebrae of the spine. This improves the circulation of the spinal fluid that bathes the spinal cord and provides discs their nutrition.

ESTIM

Electric stimulation passes an electrical current through muscles to make them contract. Contracting the muscle with electric stimulation helps strengthen the affected muscle. This contraction of the muscle brings blood flow and oxygen to the area to assist in the healing of the damaged tissues. ESTIM also provides pain relief.

Heat/Cold Therapygood-health

Heat and cold therapies are the two most common types of noninvasive and nonaddictive pain-relief therapies for muscles, joints, and injuries. A new injury will cause inflammation and swelling, ice will decrease the blood flow to the area, ultimately decreasing inflammation and swelling. Pain that recurs can be treated with heat, which will bring blood flow and promote healing.

MRT (Soft Tissue Therapy Technique)

The goal of Myofascial Release Technique is to establish a functional three-dimensional whole body symmetry and motion by removing fascial restrictions and adhesions. It is therapeutic stretching & loosening of tight fascial layers surrounding muscle and functional joints. The fascial tissue is separated from adhered muscle fibers, and adhered scar tissue due to trauma. MRT reduces muscle spasm and fascial restrictions, eliminates irritation to pain sensitive structures to allow increased range of motion. This technique may also be referred to as “myofascial trigger point therapy”.

Graston®

This is an instrument assisted soft tissue procedure that breaks down scar tissue. This technique was originally developed by athletes. It helps the practitioner identify the areas of restriction and attempt to break up scar tissue, reduce muscular restrictions, and rearrange the structure of the soft tissue being treated. This provides a better healing environment for the injury for faster healing times.

Kinesio Tape®kinesio-tape

Kinesio tape is a special tape used for muscle, ligament and tendon support and pain relief. It is elastic and designed to stretch in length but not in width, it is lightweight and designed to be comfortable to wear. It can be used on numerous injuries, and its design allows the tape to move and flex without restricting motion. The elasticity of the tape creates a biomechanical lifting mechanism that separates the skin away from the muscle. The separation increases blood flow, lymph drainage, and can reduce the pressure on sensitive pain receptors. This increases blood flow to the muscles, reduces pain, swelling and muscle spasm.

Posture and Gait Analysis

This is an evaluation of a persons body position and structure assessed from 4 positions. We use it to gather assessment information, and monitor patient progress. Improper body alignment limits function, so it is of concern to every chiropractic patient.

Therapeutic Exercise

Utilizing a well rounded approach, another tool that we can use are therapeutic exercises. These exercises can be used early on in treatment to help aid in reducing pain and inflammation early after an injury. The focus then changes to help the patient restore their strength, range of motion, stability and balance.
